Learning Goals: Understand the difference between series and parallel circuits.
Success Criteria: You can draw circuit diagrams for series and parallel circuits.
First of all you must understand these symbols and what they mean.
Here is an example of a circuit diagram:
As you can see the drawings are replaced with symbols. You need to know how to draw these symbols!
There are two types of circuits you need to know about:
Series circuits have only one path for the electrons to move through. The arrows show the direction these electrons move. |
Parallel circuits have multiple paths for the electrons to move through. They split into separate paths and then join together again. |
Homework:
At this point, everyone should be working on the handout.
